03.01.07 | Canada Council Grant Comes Through
The Canada Council for the Arts has awarded me with a generous Artist Development grant. The grant is for private study with a variety of teachers in New York, and will help offset the high cost of NYC living while I continue my endeavors in free jazz and creative improvised music.

The central idea that I presented to the Canada Council--and which I am interested in exploring in my own work--is how a background in formal music affects the way in which one approaches free improvised music, and vice versa.

07.26.06 | Suite Unraveling at 55 Bar reviewed in All About Jazz
Budd Kopman from All About Jazz came to see Suite Unraveling at 55 Bar on July 12th, and he reviewed the concert. Among other things, he praised the band as being "extremely emotional" and "cerebrally rewarding." (The words "wall of sound" figure in here, too. Those are three words that just go great together, don't you think?)
